Open Enrollment for Your Health Insurance is Just Around the Corner!

Is your calendar full of reminders of when bill payments are due, time to renew subscriptions, sign up for special events? Well, what about signing up for your health insurance?

Life is One Big Due Date

Who likes missing registration deadlines? Open enrollment for health care insurance is basically the same idea.

We all know timing is everything. Planning is so much easier when you have time to research the information you will need to make the right decision for you and your family. That’s why you really shouldn’t miss open enrollment if you can avoid it.

Mark your calendar now!
The next open enrollment for individuals is November 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. It might seem as if you just went through open enrollment but keep in mind this is an annual event.

After open enrollment, you can’t get the “full” insurance unless you have a “life event” and qualify for special enrollment. So if you change jobs or get married, or have a baby, you can still get health insurance. You only have 60 days after your life event. Sixty days can fly by in a blink and then you are really limited.

If you miss special or open enrollment, but you still need something until the next open enrollment, you can get short-term coverage.  But it won’t offer all the benefits a qualified plan does.
